Founded in 2015, NODE is a student association linked to the master program Geographical Information Management and Application, or GIMA in short. As this master is spread out over four Dutch universities (TU Delft, TU Twente, Utrecht University and Wageningen University & Research) and it attracts multiple foreign students, a link between all the students was needed. NODE is the direct result of this need. Our main goal is to bring the GIMA students together, both inside and outside of the contact weeks. To achieve this goal, activities are organized with either a focus on the informal or education.
PARTICIPATING IN THE GIS CAREER DAY 2020
We're sure you've been waiting for this time of the year again: NODE's GIS Career Day 2020 is around the corner! We've been working hard on a virtual version of the beloved career event where students wishing to pursue a career in GIS can get in contact with companies and learn all about working in the field of geo-information.
It will take place from 14h to 18h on December 14 on a virtual event platform. If you're a first year student, don't worry: the event will not collide with your Utrecht contact days schedule!
We have curated an interesting programme filled with workshops, plenary sessions, a networking carousel and a virtual company fair! You can read everything about the programme on facebook or LinkedIn:
As always, the entrance is free, and you can pick from five workshops, so head to the sign-up form quickly, before the workshops are full!
Looking forward to seeing you all on the day of the event!
GIS CAREER DAY 2020

Are you as a company interested in the 2020 edition? Please let us know by sending an email to email@example.com!

START OF THE NEW GIMA YEAR
During the first two weeks of September the new GIMA year has started with the contact weeks in Enschede. During these weeks NODE organized several events for the new students. On the first day we went geocaching in the city centre of Enschede, followed by an Italian dinner. NODE also organized an event for the new international students to help them with all their questions about living and studying in the Netherlands and on Thursday we played a beer pong tournament! In the second week the fun continued during the board games night on Tuesday. On the last evening NODE organized a Missing Maps event led by Koos Krijnders from the Red Cross. With a group of approximately 30 people we helped mapping unmapped areas in Mali and Zambia for the 510.global project.
Thanks everyone for two great weeks!
END OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR
From the 1st till the 5th of July, the last contact week of the academic year took place at the TU Delft. On Wednesday we discovered the city centre of Delft with a boat tour.
We wish everyone a great summer and we are excited to receive the new GIMA students in Enschede in September!
BUSINESS COURSE AT TENSING
On Friday the 24th of May, we followed a Business Course provided by Tensing at their office in Waardenburg. We used FME for a case about the Tour de France in Utrecht.
Thank you Tensing for the interesting and interactive workshop!
During the masterclass atGOconnectIT last thursday we learned how the company uses GIS for managing geo information for cables and pipelines. We even got to drive around in a 3D scanning car! It was an interesting day!
We are very happy to share the group photo of our second and successful NODE trip! Last weekend we visited Tirana with a group of 25 enthusiastic GIMA students. We had a city tour through the interesting capital of Albania, visited a bunker museum and "climbed" a mountain during a mountain tour. Besides that we had dinners with a lot of traditional food and enjoyed the Albanian bars!
Thank you all for joining and thanks to Dewitec for contributing to the trip! We are already looking forward to next year :)
During the alumni event on wednesday seven alumni told current GIMA students everything about writing your thesis, doing an internship and finding a job. Thank you Joe d'Hont, Sjors Hoek, Stijn van der Hoek, Ruben van der Valk, Cynthia de Vos and Elisa van Bergen for sharing your interesting experiences!
